MIG-19 FARMER
First Soviet production fighter capable of supersonic speeds in level flights. First flight made in 1953, fully operational by 1955. Many still in service. The highly-swept, thin, sharply tapered wing was a remarkably successful design. The MIG-19 proved to be a capable and sturdy combat aircraft, very maneuverable and armed with three powerful 30mm cannons. In July 1960 a MIG-19 shot down an RB-47H. This was the first loss of a U.S. aircraft to a MIG-19. In 1965 a U.S. 104-STARFIGHTER took hits from MIG-19 cannon fire. The MIG-19 was used in the Arabian-Israel wars in 1967. |

MIG-21 FISHBED
Supersonic jet fighter of 1959. 50 countries in four continents have flown the MIG-21. It is the number one most produced supersonic jet aircraft in aviation history, the most produced combat aircraft since Korean War, and the longest production run of a combat aircraft, More than 10,000 MIG-21s have been built. Speed reported at 1385 mph (mach 2.1). One twin barreled 23mm cannon and one single barreled NR-30. Rate of climb: 58,000 ft. in one minute. |

MIG-23 FLOGGER
Built in 1970 the MIG-23 is a swing wing fighter aircraft, the first with look-down/ shoot-down Radar with beyond visual range missiles. Max. speed 1553mph (Mach 2.4) at sea level.Armament is R-23/24, R-60/ R-27/ R-73/ R-77 plus 23mm cannon. |

MIG-25 FOXBAT
The MIG-25 entered service in 1966, a twin engine interceptor/fighter. No cannons, up to four externally-mounted AAMs. The MIG-25 was the USSRs answer to the U.S. fast, high flying aircraft. It’s performance caused much concern in the West. It is also used as a reconnaissance aircraft. There are many variants to the MIG-25. With a top speed of 2170 mph (mach 3.2) this plane deserved attention. 1190 were built. An altitude of 73,000 ft. was achieved. On several occasions Israeli F-4E Phantoms failed in an attempted intercept. |

MIG-27 FLOGGER, VARIANT OF MIG-23
Single engine variable sweep fighter. One twin barrel 23mm cannon, plus up to eight air missiles. A variant of the MIG-23, optimized for the ground attack role. This version of the MIG-23 had a new nose, simpler engine intakes and nozzle, plus other modifications which limited supersonic performance, but reduced cost, weight, and fuel consumption. |

MIG-29 FULCRUM
Single-seat air superiority fighter. One 30mm cannon plus air to air missiles. Entered service in 1983. MIG-29K is the Naval version. Can use 30mm six barrel Gatlin gun, can also carry nuclear weapons. The Fulcrum is an impressive aircraft with good performance, armament, and maneuverability, and the ability to use rough airfields. The MIG-29, like all the newer MIGs have many variations in design, performance, firepower, and many somewhat confusing designations. |
